You can use SMART SEARCH to find traffic violation cases statewide and information on cases in courts where eFiling has been implemented. To use SMART SEARCH, click the icon below. In the search field, type the traffic ticket number, the court case docket number, or the name of one of the parties and then click submit.

Court case information accessible through the Portal is governed by the:

Maine Rules of Electronic Court Systems (RECS).

Pursuant to RECS, certain public information is accessible only on a Public Access Computer (PAC) at designated courthouses where eFiling has been implemented. **Currently limited to just the Penobscot Judicial Center.

Information designated as nonpublic by RECS Rules 4, 5, 6, 7, and any information to which access is restricted or prohibited by law, rule, or regulation is accessible through the Portal only by persons specified in RECS Rule 2 (31)(b) and according to procedures established by the court.

Parties, including self-represented litigants, may request access to all electronic court records in their cases by remote access. For instructions on how to receive access to your electronic court records, visit:

IMPORTANT NOTE ON TRAFFIC CASES:

You can use the MAKE PAYMENTS service to pay traffic violation fines. Click on the MAKE PAYMENTS service icon below to search for your traffic case and to pay your ENTIRE traffic violation fine with a credit or debit card.

• It may take a few days from the time you receive your traffic ticket until it is entered into this system. If you can’t verify your ticket, please wait a few days and try again or call the Violations Bureau at (207)783-5422.

• This service does NOT accept partial payments. If you are contesting any charge on your ticket, do not use this service. Mail any partial payment to the Violations Bureau for processing.
